Questions Loom After 70 Piles of Ashes Are Discovered in Desert

A federal investigation is underway in Nevada, where dozens of cremated human remains were recently found on a dirt road.

KLAS reported that 70 piles of human ashes were discovered outside Searchlight. Although individuals are permitted to scatter ashes, the Bureau of Land Management is currently investigating this particular case.

The agency has confirmed to KLAS that these ashes are indeed human cremations. According to KLAS, some of the ashes displayed signs of weathering due to exposure to the elements like sunlight and rain.

No identifying details were left at the site, as per the news report. The remains were accompanied by zip ties, and a broken urn was also found.

The discovery of the ashes was reported to KLAS by an anonymous viewer who provided photos. There is no evidence to suggest any connection between these ashes and a recently-closed funeral home.
