Minnesota police arrested a man on Monday, a week after his missing 16-year-old son’s body was found at a landfill.
KSTP reports that 38-year-old Jordan Collins Sr. has been taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree murder concerning his son, 16-year-old Jordan Collins Jr. Allegedly, Collins Jr. was residing with his father in Columbia Heights when he disappeared on May 8.
The teenager’s remains were located at the Elk River Landfill on June 28. Security footage from May 13 — shortly after he went missing — indicated his body was disposed of in a Columbia Heights dumpster and subsequently transported by a garbage truck.
In the midst of the investigation into his disappearance, officials stated there was a possibility that Collins Jr. was being detained against his will. No motive has been provided by the authorities.
Collins Sr. has not been formally charged as of Tuesday. His son’s cause of death remains undisclosed.
