NC Man Charged With Kidnapping Iowa Teen, Bringing Her Back to North Carolina

A man accused of taking a missing Iowa teen to North Carolina last weekend now faces charges in two states.

John Johnson, aged 25, was first taken into custody in Reidsville, North Carolina, following the discovery of the missing 15-year-old girl, as reported by WHO. The girl was safely brought back to her family, and Johnson faced charges of sexual exploitation of a minor along with solicitation via computer.

He had allegedly been communicating with the teen, who lived in Fairfield, Iowa, and apparently drove there and brought her back to his home state.

Fairfield Police contacted their North Carolina counterparts when the investigation revealed they could be in that jurisdiction.

The girl was reunited with her family.

This week, the Fairfield Police Department announced that it had secured a warrant for Johnson’s arrest charging him with kidnapping.

He will remain in North Carolina until arrangements are made to extradite him to Iowa to face charges there.
