The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Winston-Salem around 10:30 a.m. on Friday after a family member reported receiving a text from Stephen Curtis Hicks. The message suggested he had harmed family members.
Upon arrival, deputies were met with silence at the door. After finding an unlocked entry, they entered the home and discovered the bodies of 76-year-old June Hicks and 45-year-old Stephen Eric Hicks.
Stephen Curtis Hicks, aged 78, was also found inside, suffering from minor self-inflicted injuries. Authorities arrested him and charged him with two counts of first-degree murder.
Hicks is scheduled to make his first court appearance on October 20.
