A woman from North Carolina, who disappeared last year with her unattended car later discovered in California, has now been found safe in Colorado, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
Kelsey Pittman was found in Colorado and is safe, according to ABC 4 News.
According to CrimeOnline, California officials had been on the lookout for Pittman for several months since her last reported appearance near Death Valley National Park in late 2024.
Pittman, who was 33 at the time of her disappearance, last spoke to her mother in November 2024, according to the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office.
Her mother said Pittman had contact with police in Utah around that time, but no one had heard from her since.
In early February, Pittman’s car was found by deputies and park service personnel in a secluded spot near Death Valley, specifically in an area called Slab City off Highway 190. This location, as noted by the sheriff’s office, is private property commonly used by winter campers.
Since the discovery of the vehicle in February, multiple law enforcement agencies have followed up on leads in the search for Pittman.
Authorities have not released details about where Pittman has been over the past nine months, citing the family’s request for privacy.
