An Ohio man has been formally accused of murder following the tragic death of his girlfriend’s 5-month-old daughter.
Glenn McIntosh, aged 32, had been in a relationship with Ameira Reynolds’ mother for approximately three months when the incident occurred on October 13. On that day, the mother left the infant in McIntosh’s care while she went out with her other children for about an hour, according to a report by the Columbus Dispatch. Upon her return, she found that McIntosh had departed abruptly.
Initially believing her baby was asleep, the mother soon discovered her daughter was limp and unresponsive. The infant was immediately taken to a hospital, where medical staff identified multiple skull fractures, which they attributed to “severe blunt force trauma.”
Tragically, the baby passed away later that day, as detailed by Assistant Franklin County Prosecutor Shania Goble during McIntosh’s recent court appearance.
In a desperate attempt to get answers, the mother sent frantic messages to McIntosh, who eventually claimed that the child had fallen, according to Goble.
During the court hearing, Ameira’s mother expressed her grief and anger in a statement, saying, “You asked me to trust you and I trusted you with my baby, and you took her from me. You killed my baby girl. My baby didn’t deserve that. I can’t imagine what you put her through.”
McIntosh has been charged with murder and ordered held on a $2 million bond.
