An Oklahoma attorney has been arrested after she entered an Oklahoma City daycare and tried to lure a 2-year-old out.
Investigators report that Tracy Zahl, age 49, entered Westminster Presbyterian Church Child Care on July 23 through an unlocked door, according to KFOR. After attempting to entice a toddler by saying “Come with me,” a teacher intervened and asked her to leave.
Subsequently, Zahl joined a group of children and followed them to their classroom until officials instructed her to exit the premises. She stated she was “sent by God to be with the children” before departing.
Oklahoma City Police located her at her residence, under a mile from the daycare, and took her into custody thanks to a partial license plate number recorded by a teacher, as reported by Law&Crime. Zahl informed the arresting officers that she had made a mistake, but officers noted she neither has children nor grandchildren at the daycare and lacked any legitimate reason to be there.
KFOR mentioned that Zahl had faced a suspension from the Oklahoma Bar Association for one year following an arrest related to prescription forgery, along with charges in 2021 for two misdemeanors involving threats to kill a former employer and coworker.
Zahl is being held on a $30,000 bond, charged with kidnapping.
