A Houston woman who was shot by FBI agents after reportedly threatening them with a machete is now facing federal charges, as announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Texas on Friday.

The woman, identified as Jennifer Jesselle Perez-Rodriguez, 28, was apprehended and charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer related to the incident that occurred on April 17.

According to a criminal complaint, agents were traveling down Anderson Road in unmarked cars when Perez-Rodriguez allegedly stepped into the roadway wielding a machete. She then began to swing the machete and advanced toward two of the vehicles.
