More than 100 3D-printed firearm parts found in bolthole in small NSW town

A clandestine gun-making facility has been shut down by police after officers raided the property and seized more than 100 3D-printed firearm parts.

Detectives searched the bolthole which operated out of Blackheath in the Blue Mountains yesterday morning and arrested a 29-year-old man.

He was charged with four firearms offences and was due to appear in Penrith Local Court today.

Police allegedly found receivers, slides, magazines and triggers during the search of the home.

Police have released images of the haul today which allegedly included a pistol, a longarm, seven imported firearm steel barrels, a box of springs, clips and screws used to complete firearms.

Detectives also found a hard drive which allegedly contained about 500 blueprints for the 3D printer to print firearms.

The 29-year-old man has been accused of manufacturing a firearm without a licence or permit, manufacturing a pistol without licence or permit, possessing a digital blueprint for the manufacturing of firearms and intentionally importing prohibited tier two goods.

The search was carried out as part of Strike Force Temarang.

The operation was launched in September 2021 to investigate the importation and manufacture of 3D printed firearms, firearm parts and other improvised firearms in NSW.
