On a Saturday afternoon at a Walmart in Tullytown, Pennsylvania, a troubling incident unfolded that led to the arrest of a mother, Samantha Fletcher. A concerned 911 caller alerted the authorities after witnessing a distressing scene where Fletcher reportedly dropped one of her children into a shopping cart, rendering the child unconscious.

According to the Tullytown Borough police, the caller described Fletcher as appearing to be under the influence, shouting profanities at her young children, and dragging one of them by a backpack leash as he cried. The disturbing behavior prompted immediate police response.

Upon arrival, officers found Fletcher carrying her unconscious son. Paramedics were quickly summoned to provide the necessary medical care for the boy, who was in need of immediate attention.

Witnesses at the scene, as reported by Phillyburbs.com, recounted the harrowing moments when Fletcher allegedly “slammed” her son into the cart multiple times. This violent act resulted in the child hitting his head and subsequently losing consciousness.

When police approached, they found Fletcher holding her son, who had a visible bruise on his forehead, while her daughter was seen asleep in the shopping cart. Despite the paramedics’ efforts, they were unable to wake the boy. He was quickly transported to St. Mary Medical Center, where doctors diagnosed him with a severe concussion.

Police found Fletcher holding the boy with a girl asleep in the cart, a probable cause statement said. Medics were unable to awaken the boy, who by that time had a large bruise on his forehead. He was taken to St. Mary Medical Center, where he was found to have a serious concussion.

Child protective services took the children to their father’s home.

Fletcher was ultimately charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person, and simple assault.

She was given a $100,000 bail, police said.
