Tara Michelle Enoka used a GoFundMe video to trick $36,000 dollars of donations from friends, family and good samaritans worldwide.
Enoka was seen just three months ago at a kick boxing competing in Bangkok looking a picture of health.
But back in 2021 she claimed she was fighting a different battle.
“I was diagnosed with breast cancer and just as of two days ago, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer,” she said in a video she released at the time.
“We’re raising the money to help pay for the treatments I need to potentially save my life.”
Enoka accepted donations from across the globe and even used the hastag “Stand With Tara” to pocket the money.
But, it was all a lie and there was no cancer.
The mother-of-four broke down in tears today as her sentence was handed down – 13 months in prison – 11 of those suspended.
The magistrate labelled her actions “despicable” and “deliberate”.
Her lawyer didn’t make a comment outside court.
Enoka’s youngest daughter turns five tomorrow, a celebration her mother will miss after being sent straight from Joondalup Magistrates Court to prison.
She’ll serve two months behind bars.
