Eight people were injured during a mass shooting at a bar in South Philadelphia.
According to ABC 6, gunfire erupted shortly before 4 a.m. on Saturday at 7 Elements Restaurant, Bar & Lounge. The incident resulted in eight individuals being injured, with most suffering minor injuries to their limbs. Among the victims, a security guard sustained a gunshot wound to the face, and a woman was shot in the back, both of whom were more severely injured.
“The most critical injuries were sustained by a security guard who was shot in the face and a woman shot in the back. Both remain in critical condition,” stated Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace.
“Additional victims are reported to have received gunshot wounds to their legs, arms, and other limbs, but their injuries are considered non-life-threatening,” as reported by NBC 10 Philadelphia.
Initially, police were called about a person shot at a bar located on 11th Street, according to Inspector Pace. Upon the officers’ arrival, they found at least three people who had been shot. Those individuals were taken to a hospital. It was later learned that other victims arrived at the hospital on their own, FOX 29 reports.
ABC 6 reported that a total of three women and five men were shot and that all are expected to survive, according to the police.
Police are unsure how many suspects were involved in the shooting. According to NBC, Philadelphia police reported finding shell casings in multiple locations, including the restaurant area of the establishment on the upper floor, the stairway, and the lower level.
This is an ongoing investigation, and law enforcement is reviewing all surveillance footage and witness statements.
