A mother from Texas, who worked as a DoorDash delivery driver, has been charged due to an incident where one of her children was harmed as she collected a restaurant order.
According to a statement from the Belton Police Department, 24-year-old Angela Moreno was arrested on March 26 following an inquiry into an occurrence from October 2024 involving her 3-year-old son. At the time, Moreno was working as a DoorDash driver and had her 3-year-old and 1-year-old children with her during a trip to pick up an order for delivery. Allegedly, she left both children “unsecured and unattended” in her car while she entered the restaurant. Upon returning 10 minutes later, police reported that she witnessed her older child with his head stuck in the moonroof, which had closed on his neck.
First responders arrived to the scene on Oct. 10, 2024, at around 9 p.m. that evening and found the boy “unconscious and not breathing.” Paramedics performed lifesaving procedures on him and transported him to McClane Children’s Hospital. He survived his injuries.

Police said that while Moreno was inside the restaurant, the boy apparently “climbed to stick his head out of the moonroof and accidentally shut it on himself with the button on the ceiling of the car.” The door to the moonroof then closed on his neck and he was unable to reopen it, constricting his airway and preventing him from breathing.
The police referred the case to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, who formally charged Moreno with injury to a child on March 25. She was booked into Bell County Jail and posted $50,000 bond on March 27.
