Mom poured scalding hot water on son and tried to hide 2nd-degree burns with socks and diapers: Police

An Ohio mother is facing serious charges after authorities allege she inflicted severe burns on her son, necessitating urgent medical attention. Laneasha Walker, 24, was detained at the Hamilton County Justice Center, accused of three counts of child endangerment. According to documents accessed by CBS affiliate WKRC, Walker took her son to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where medical staff discovered second-degree burns covering 10% of the child’s body. When questioned, Walker reportedly could not provide an explanation for these injuries.

The incident, believed to have taken place on December 12, 2025, was brought to light through police investigations. NBC affiliate WLWT reported that Walker’s other children informed the police that they witnessed their mother pouring hot water on their sibling. Additional testimonies claimed that Walker attempted to conceal the boy’s burns by using diapers and long socks.

Further complicating the situation, Walker initially resisted seeking medical aid for her son and allegedly lied about visiting a doctor for his treatment. Court records indicate that Cincinnati Children’s Hospital staff found both fresh and old burn wounds on the boy.

Following Walker’s arrest on Friday, all four of her children were placed under the care of family members. She faced arraignment on Saturday, where her bond was set at $75,000, divided into $25,000 for each child endangerment charge. Laneasha Walker remains in custody, with her next court appearance scheduled for April 7.

Police said Walker initially refused to get medical treatment for her son. She also allegedly lied about taking her son to a doctor for his burns. According to court documents, medical staff at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital found evidence of old and new burn injuries to the boy.

WLWT reported that all four of Walker’s children were placed in the custody of family members after she was arrested on Friday. Walker was ordered not to have any contact with her son if she posts her bond and is released.
