A man from Missouri has been released on bond after facing charges of domestic assault related to an alleged incident involving his girlfriend and her child.

Quinton Peters, aged 22, secured his release by posting a $15,000 bond following his arrest the day after he allegedly choked his girlfriend at her Arnold, Missouri home. Reports from a probable cause statement, which Law&Crime reviewed, indicate that Peters went to his girlfriend’s residence when he discovered she had sold his Xbox console. Her reason for selling it was due to allegations of Peters cheating on her.

The probable cause statement claims the incident happened on September 7. The girlfriend, unnamed in the reports, informed police that during their confrontation, Peters allegedly shoved her onto her bed, prompting her child to intervene.

The statement said that Peters also allegedly threw the child onto the bed. Police said the child was not injured during the alleged scuffle.

According to the reports, Peters continued his alleged assault by putting his hands around his girlfriend’s neck and lifting her off the ground before pinning her against a wall. He then purportedly struck her head against the wall multiple times while keeping his grip on her neck. The girlfriend reported to the police that she struggled to breathe during the attack.

Eventually, Peters released his hold, causing his girlfriend to “collapse onto the floor.” Police noted she had visible red marks on her neck during their interview. She declined emergency medical assistance, as stated in the report.

A warrant for Peters’ arrest was issued and he was taken into custody on Sept. 8. He was charged with domestic assault and endangering the welfare of a child. After being booked into the Jefferson County Jail without bond, a judge set his bond at $15,000 with conditions that he not contact his girlfriend or her child. He is also required to be monitored with a GPS device.

Peters is currently out of jail and due to appear in court again for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 24.
