A Florida mother faces allegations of dragging a woman with her vehicle following a heated exchange in September. The accused, 43-year-old Crystal Collins, was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on pretrial terms after her arrest on Wednesday, facing two battery charges.

According to an arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime, the victim reported the incident to authorities on September 13, implicating Collins and her daughter. The victim claimed Collins was driving a Nissan Altima with her daughter as a passenger when a verbal confrontation ensued between them.

During the altercation, Collins’ daughter allegedly grabbed the victim’s shirt from inside the car and instructed her mother to “drag” the woman. Collins then reportedly accelerated the vehicle.

The affidavit details that the victim was with friends outside a residence on NW 37th Avenue in Miami at approximately 3 a.m. on September 13 when Collins stopped the car to confront her. Following the daughter’s directive, Collins allegedly sped off while the daughter held onto the victim, dragging her several yards until the car reached a stop sign where the victim managed to free herself.

The injured woman was transported to the hospital by ambulance, where she received treatment for road rash injuries. She informed police that she suspected Collins and her daughter of a similar dragging incident two days prior, describing it as part of an “ongoing situation.”

Authorities located Collins on Wednesday and questioned her about the alleged events. Collins agreed to speak with detectives, stating that she had been attending a relative’s wake when the victim allegedly approached her, seemingly seeking a confrontation with her daughter. Collins claimed that the victim punched her daughter through the car window, and her daughter retaliated by kicking the victim from the passenger window.

The affidavit stated that Collins “confessed to putting her vehicle in reverse and backing up.” She also voluntarily provided police with cellphone videos taken during the incident.

After reviewing the videos provided by Collins, police determined that the events depicted in the videos matched statements provided by the alleged victim rather than Collins.

Collins was arrested and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after being charged with two counts of battery. Court records indicated that she was released outright and ordered to stay away from the other woman. Her next court date is scheduled for Jan. 20, 2026.
