HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – The High Springs Police Department (HSPD) is reaching out to the community for assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an attempted vehicle break-in in the Cinnamon Hill area on July 6.

At approximately 4:50 a.m. on July 6, a doorbell camera captured footage of a suspect described as a black male, standing around 6 feet tall and appearing to be between 20 and 30 years old, trying to enter a parked vehicle in the driveway of a residence on the 17100 block of NW 251st Street.

The individual was dressed in a navy blue t-shirt, black shorts, and black shoes, also wearing a dark gray ski mask that provided full coverage, and had on athletic-style gloves covering his hands.

The video shows the individual walking to the side of the home and appearing to peer through a window before returning to the vehicle and pulling the driver’s side door handle—clearly caught on camera. No entry was made into the vehicle.

HSPD suspects this individual may have approached other homes in the area. If you have surveillance footage, or if you believe your vehicle may have been entered, please contact the High Springs Police Department at (386) 454-1415. HSPD is confident that through enhanced policing, the suspects will be apprehended.

Officers are actively canvassing the neighborhood and passing out “Lock It or Lose It” flyers to raise awareness and help prevent further incidents.

HSPD reminds residents to always remember to lock vehicles and remove valuables.
