Police are today hunting a gunman in a Queensland town, with schools closed and entry to a hospital restricted.
Authorities responded following reports of gunshots from a property on Arthur Street in Kingaroy, about 220km north-west of Brisbane, about 4am.
Some people safely left the property safely prior to police arrival.
A 25-year-old man, believed to be armed, remains outstanding, and police are responding to the incident.
Police believe he may be travelling in a black Suzuki Swift, with false number plates displaying 551 GE9.
Access to the Kingaroy Hospital has been restricted until further notice.
Other businesses and facilities in the area, including some schools, have been closed as police respond.
Police describe the man as being about 175 centimetres tall, slim build, Caucasian with brown hair and brown eyes.
Members of the public are urged not to approach the man or his vehicle, and to call police immediately if sighted.
