Richard Wills, a 65-year-old resident of Ouyen, was last observed leaving his Hughs Street home around 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, as part of his daily routine.
According to police reports, Wills was heading to work on his farm located along the Mallee Highway.
Concerns emerged when Wills did not return for lunch, prompting his family to begin a search of the property.
After Wills failed to return home, his wife reported him missing the next day.
The police initiated a search operation on the property, discovering Wills’ body at approximately 1:30 p.m. on April 7.
Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Trewavas from the missing persons squad stated that Wills had “clearly met with foul play.”
“What is still unclear is exactly who was involved, and why,” Trewavas said.
“We’re hoping that this appeal leads to someone coming forward and doing the right thing, it can be done anonymously, so that we can hold those responsible to account.”
