Emergency services were called to Carlisle Avenue, Dharruk, at about 4.10am, police said.
The unoccupied Mitsubushi Triton ute was well alight before firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Police seized a jerry can found under the ute for forensic examination.
Investigators have not publicly speculated about motive, but the owner of the ute, Umar, told 9News he had been threatened recently in connection to the car.
Umar said on Sunday, a man had threatened to blow up the car and injure Umar and his family.
“I’d just like for everyone to know that we are peaceful people. We don’t want any problems in Australia,” he said.
“We just want people to be aware and to have an understanding of what’s happening overseas in Palestine and in Gaza.”
The investigation is ongoing.
