GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In the early hours today, 19-year-old Treyvion Sincere Murphy was taken into custody following an incident in which he allegedly discharged a firearm on Williston Road. Alongside this, Murphy faces charges for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

According to a detective from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, the events unfolded on November 3 when Murphy visited a friend’s home. Despite being under community control and restricted from leaving his own residence except for specific purposes, Murphy allegedly breached these conditions. His movement is limited to a half-hour window before and after work or for pre-approved special occasions.

At approximately 6:43 p.m., an argument ensued between Murphy and the victim at her home. Following the dispute, Murphy reportedly crossed the street, brandished a handgun, and warned the victim to keep her distance. The victim stated that Murphy cocked the gun, prompting her to retreat indoors, after which she heard a gunshot and promptly contacted authorities. Murphy had already fled the scene by the time law enforcement arrived.

While the detective did not discover any bullet impact at the scene, a shell casing was located on the road where Murphy had purportedly stood. It remains uncertain whether Murphy intended to harm the victim, but the evidence led the detective to recommend a charge of aggravated assault due to the victim’s expressed fear for her safety when Murphy displayed and cocked the firearm.

In a subsequent development, Murphy reportedly texted the victim, imploring her not to involve the police. Authorities apprehended Murphy at a residence around 12:51 a.m. on November 4.

Murphy has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He has a juvenile conviction in 2024 and two adult felony convictions (one violent); on June 5, 2025, Judge James Colaw sentenced him to one year of community control, followed by two years of probation after Murphy entered pleas of nolo contendere to battery by a person detained in a jail and possession of contraband (candy) in a juvenile detention facility. Judge Jonathan Ramsey set bail at $125,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
