A dramatic late-night chase in Logan, south of Brisbane, culminated in the arrest of a man found hiding underwater following a fatal shooting.
Law enforcement officers responded to a call at Hugh Muntz Park, near Beenleigh Shopping Centre, around 10:40 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with a chest wound, who tragically succumbed to his injuries just minutes later.
The victim has been identified as a 35-year-old resident of Bahrs Scrub.
Investigators suspect that a white Kia Stonic sedan with stolen license plates fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Police later spotted the vehicle on Kumbari Avenue in Labrador and deployed road spikes on Jabiru Island in an effort to intercept it.

The car continued for a short distance before the driver abandoned the car at the intersection of Hope Island Road and Helensvale Road, and fled on foot into nearby scrub.
The Dog Squad was called in for the following search, and a 22-year-old Beenleigh man was arrested shortly after.
Police claim the man had been hiding underwater in the reeds near Saltwater Park.
Officers allegedly discovered ammunition on the man, and a discarded firearm nearby.
Hugh Muntz Park and the abandoned Kia have been declared crime scenes.
The investigation continues.
