A California woman has died after an unknown man stabbed her Saturday afternoon in a luxurious Los Angeles shop.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, 24-year-old Brianna Kupfer was killed inside the Croft House on North La Brea Avenue. The incident happened when an unknown assailant “attacked the victim with a knife and fled the scene through the back door,” police said.

Two customers walked into the store and found Kupfer deceased on the floor and contacted 911.

LAPD said the motive behind attacking Kupfer is unknown but the assailant didn’t know Kupfer when he took a “random walk into the store.”

Surveillance footage from the store showed the suspect walking down an alley afterward, northbound behind the store.

“The suspect is described as a male Black, unknown age, tall, thin, wearing a dark hoody, sunglasses, a white N-95 mask, dark skinny jeans, dark shoes and carrying a dark back pack. Based on evidence discovered by detectives, the suspect is believed to be homeless,” police said.

Fox Los Angeles reports that Kupfer was a UCLA graduate student working on obtaining an architectural design degree. Loved ones said she had big dreams and was devoted to family.

“I see her every morning. She come in, she opens the shop. Real friendly woman,” security guard Herman Hicks told ABC 7. “She’ll look back and wave. Everybody over here is friendly. We look out for one another in the area. Keeping a close eye out. Just because there is a lot of transients that come through.”

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the West Bureau Homicide investigators at (213) 382-9470. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters can also text Crime Stoppers at 274637.
