Reality Stars Todd and Julie Chrisley Face Trial on Financial Crimes Charges – Crime Online

Reality television starts Todd and Julie Chrisley will go on trial on Monday in Atlanta, where they face federal bank fraud and tax evasion charges.

Despite two indictments — one on August 2019 and another in February — E! has just announced a new dating series starring Todd Chrisley called “Love Limo” and has also renewed “Growing Up Chrisley” for another season. USA Network also recently renewed its “Chrisley Knows Best.”

The indictments accuse the Chrisleys of using fake documents to apply for loans and using a film production company to hide income from the IRS, the New York Post reports. Other charges stem from a false credit report and bank statements allegedly used by Julie Chrisley to rent a home in California.

Both Chrisleys have been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, five counts of bank fraud, cone count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, and one count of tax fraud. Julie Chrisley faces additional charges of wire fraud and obstruction of justice.

The Chrisleys accountant, Peter Tarantino, will go to trial alongside the Chrisleys, charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and two counts of willfully filing false tax returns.

All three have pleaded not guilty. Todd Chrisley has publicly blamed a former employee fired in 2012 for allegedly stealing from them. Chrisley wrote on Facebook — before being indicted — that the employee brought the fake documents to the US Attorney’s Office and accused the Chrisleys of financial crimes.

Prosecutors say that much is true but that the Chrisleys directed that former employee to falsify the documents
