’16 and Pregnant’ Star Charged in Georgia Man’s Drug Overdose Death

A former star of reality show “16 and Pregnant” has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of a man from a drug overdose.

Police in Rome, Georgia, discovered 37-year-old John Mark Harris deceased from an overdose on February 16, 2025, according to reports from WAGA. At the scene, potential drug-related items were also located.

Authorities issued an arrest warrant for 33-year-old Whitney Blake Purvis, charging her with supplying Harris with a lethal mix of Xylazine and Fentanyl, referred to as “Tranq,” which they allege resulted in his death.

Court documentation indicates that Purvis was charged with involuntary manslaughter and also faced accusations of distributing a controlled substance. She was additionally charged on Monday with using a communication device to facilitate a felony, showing counts of a felony for distribution and a misdemeanor for committing a felony with a communication device involving controlled substances.

The arrest comes a month after Purvis announced the death of her 16-year-old son, Weston Owen Gosa, Owen Gosa, in a Facebook post.

Purvis was featured on the first season of the MTV reality show in 2009. According to the Coosa Valley News, she’s been arrested previously for shoplifting and failing to make child support payments.

Purvis is being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond, jail records show.
