Renowned investigative journalist Nick McKenzie has come forward following an alleged intimidation attempt at his residence, expressing “strong suspicions” about those responsible.
Speaking with Today, McKenzie described the incident as a deliberate act of intimidation, which involved tampering with his home’s CCTV system.
“Someone accessed the property, made their way onto the roof, and tampered with the system in a way that was meant to send a message,” he explained.
The journalist, who has received the prestigious Gold Walkley Award, expressed his “full confidence” in the ongoing police investigation into the matter.
“Being an investigative reporter means you often ruffle feathers. It’s part of the job,” McKenzie remarked.
He hinted that the incident might be connected to a recent investigation, which is set to be featured as a significant series this weekend in Nine newspapers and on 60 Minutes.
Nine is the owner of this website.
McKenzie said the incident wouldn’t stop his work
“As soon as the press is silenced, then we no longer have a free press,” he said.
