Nancy Marks, the former campaign treasurer for Republican Rep. George Santos of New York, has pleaded guilty to multiple campaign finance felonies.

Nancy Marks submitted false reports stating that 10 family members had contributed to Santos’ campaign when they had not.

Santos himself has been charged with campaign finance fraud, money laundering, and other crimes. Along with Nancy Marks, former fundraiser, Samuel Miele, was also charged with impersonating a top aide to former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy while seeking campaign donations.

Santos has faced criticism and calls for his resignation due to previous allegations of lying about his business history and education, as well as other scandals.

Democrats are seeking to regain control of Santos’ district as they aim for a majority in the House in 2024.

According to AP News, Nancy Marks’ plea agreement includes a recommendation of 3 1/2 to 4 years in prison.

While Nancy Marks has not formally entered into a cooperation agreement, her lawyer said that Nancy Marks would be willing to testify against Santos if asked.

Santos, who is already facing a 13-count federal indictment, has not been charged in connection with Nancy Marks ‘ case but is referred to as a “co-conspirator” by prosecutors, AP News added.
