VIDEO: Dad Attacks Teen Son’s Alleged Killer Outside Court

In North Carolina, authorities detained a man on Thursday after he allegedly attacked the person accused of murdering his son in a courtroom setting.

Marion McKnight, a 21-year-old suspect, is accused of fatally shooting 16-year-old Jamariyae Dixon in May during an incident at Stroud Park Court that also injured three others. McKnight, who had been released on a $100,000 bond, was present at the Mecklenburg County courthouse for a bond revocation hearing. It was there that Shaheem Snype, Dixon’s father, reportedly assaulted him in the hallway outside a fifth-floor courtroom, as reported by WSOC.

A representative from Mothers Advocating for Real Change and Unwavering Support (M.A.R.C.U.S.), a nonprofit organization, informed WCNC that McKnight had allegedly taunted Dixon’s family after securing his release. McKnight was attending court proceedings on Thursday due to violations of his release conditions.

According to WSOC, a police officer intervened using a Taser to halt Snype’s attack on McKnight. McKnight required hospitalization following the incident, while Snype faced a charge of misdemeanor assault.

In a conversation with WANE, Dixon’s mother expressed that seeing the incident brought her genuine happiness for the first time since her son’s death, saying, “I smiled. That was the first time I had a real smile since my son been gone.”

Beyond the charge of Dixon’s murder, McKnight is also facing accusations of two counts of attempted murder. As a result of Thursday’s courtroom altercation, his bond hearing has been postponed.
