An Ohio resident made a court appearance last week after being arrested on allegations of possessing child pornography on his mobile device.
During a November 26 hearing, Robert Shepard’s bail was set at $1.9 million. Shepard, 50, was taken into custody on November 10, following a tip-off received by Hamilton County authorities months earlier regarding illicit child imagery found on his phone, as reported by WXIX.
According to WCPO, some of the images on Shepard’s phone included scenes involving infants, with disturbing content showing adult males committing assaults on newborns.
Hamilton County prosecutor Connie Pillich labeled Shepard a “menace to society” and suggested that there might be additional victims. In court, it was revealed that two children had come forward with allegations against him after his arrest.
“The defendant has acted on these impulses. There are two ongoing investigations I’m aware of where local children have reported the defendant since his arrest,” prosecutors informed the judge, according to the news source.
Authorities have reportedly found further abusive material on other devices belonging to Shepard.
Shepard, who was initially jailed on $350,000 bond, is charged with illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance and pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
Additional charges are possibly forthcoming.
