In a troubling incident last week, Mississippi authorities apprehended a woman accused of inserting razor blades and fishing hooks into baked goods at two Walmart locations.
On December 15, Biloxi police received a report about a shopper who discovered razor blades in bread bought from Walmart over a week earlier. The following day, police detained 33-year-old Camille Benson after releasing surveillance images of her exiting a Walmart store, as reported by WLOX.
During an 11-day period, customers at two Biloxi Walmarts encountered razor blades embedded in a banana nut muffin and multiple loaves of bread. Initially, investigators treated these cases as isolated incidents until December 15, when store managers linked the latest complaint to earlier ones.
Lt. Candice Young informed WLOX, “They also found a muffin with a fishing hook in it. Someone had punctured the items through the plastic packaging.”
Fortunately, no one was injured in these incidents. Nevertheless, Benson faces charges of attempted mayhem.
According to KABB, Benson has an extensive criminal record in Bexar County, Texas, dating back to 2019. Her recent legal troubles there involved narcotics, although she has previously faced charges for assault, trespassing, obstruction, and prostitution.
Benson’s bond was set at $100,000.
