Two young men, Chol and Dau, were discovered critically injured just 200 meters apart, with Chol found on Marble Drive and Dau on Cobble Street. The tragic incident has led to the arrest of eight individuals, all boys and young men ranging from 15 to 19 years old, who now face serious allegations.

Initially, the police charged a 19-year-old man from Thornhill, along with two 16-year-olds and two 15-year-olds, in connection with the murder of Dau. Furthermore, charges were brought against a 19-year-old from Caroline Springs, an 18-year-old from Wollert, and another 16-year-old, all accused of participating in the murder of Chol.

Subsequently, all eight suspects have been charged with two counts of murder each. They remain in custody, awaiting their day in court to address these grave charges.

A 19-year-old Caroline Springs man, an 18-year-old Wollert man and a 16-year-old boy were also charged with the murder of Chol.

Dau and Chol’s deaths sent a ripple of grief and concern through the tight-knit community.

The attack took place just a week after Victoria enshrined a ban on machetes in state law.
