VIDEO: DoorDash Driver Jailed for Pepper Spraying Customers’ Food

Indiana police have pressed charges against a woman accused of pepper spraying meals meant for customers.

The incident occurred on December 7 when a DoorDash delivery left a couple suffering from burning sensations in their mouths, noses, throats, and stomachs. Reviewing their surveillance footage, the victims discovered that DoorDash driver Kourtney Stevenson, 29, placed their order on the porch and then sprayed it with an aerosol can hanging from her keychain, right after taking a photo of the delivery.

According to the Courier & Journal, detectives used subpoenaed records from DoorDash to pinpoint Stevenson as the suspect. When questioned by police, Stevenson admitted to completing deliveries while visiting her father in Evansville.

Stevenson reportedly told authorities that she used pepper spray to fend off a spider, rather than targeting the couple’s food. Nevertheless, investigators quickly debunked this explanation.

Police noted, “The overnight low was 35°F. At that temperature, outdoor spiders in Indiana are not active and would not be capable of crawling on exposed surfaces.”

Arrested in Kentucky, Stevenson faces charges of felony battery and consumer product tampering. She is currently held on a $3,500 bond, awaiting extradition to Indiana.

Doordash said it fired Stevenson prior to her arrest on Friday.
