A Melbourne woman will face court accused of receiving over $1.4 million in salary for legal counsel despite not being a lawyer.
A 42-year-old woman from Surrey Hills was taken into custody yesterday morning amid accusations of posing as a qualified solicitor without holding a law degree or an Australian practicing certificate.
Authorities allege that since 2019, the woman has unlawfully acted as legal counsel for multiple firms.
It is claimed by investigators that she earned over $1.4 million in salary during this period.
The woman now faces five fraud charges, along with charges of practicing law without proper qualifications.
After being granted bail, she is scheduled to appear in court on February 16.
