In a shocking incident last week in Wisconsin, a pregnant woman was brutally attacked with a baseball bat soon after completing her shift at a group home.
Gheonna Lacy, who works as a caretaker at the facility, was outside warming up her car around 7 a.m. when the attack occurred, according to WISN.
Surveillance footage from a doorbell camera captured the alarming moment: Two hooded individuals, one wielding a bat, approached Lacy’s vehicle. The harrowing clip includes the sound of screams and the bat striking her.
In an interview with WISN, Lacy recounted the terrifying ordeal, describing how the attackers “immediately knocked me to the ground, started swinging the bat, and stomped on me with their feet.”
Lacy identified the female attacker as someone who had been stalking her due to a personal dispute, but she did not know the male accomplice.
She believes the attack was aimed at harming her unborn child, prompting her to instinctively shield her abdomen during the assault.
“She was stating to kill the baby, to get the baby,” she said.
Lacy said both she and the baby are in stable condition as of Friday.
Racine police said that they are investigating but so far have made no arrests.
A GoFundMe set up by Lacy’s employer said she has two young children in addition to the one on the way.
