Barry Morphew, a husband and father from Colorado, faces renewed charges related to the murder of his wife following a grand jury’s decision to indict him for first-degree murder years after initial charges were dismissed.
Back in 2021, Morphew was accused of first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence after the disappearance of his wife, Suzanne, on Mother’s Day 2020. However, these charges were dropped before the trial could begin, a year before Suzanne’s remains were eventually discovered.
On May 10, 2020, 49-year-old Suzanne Morphew was last seen in Maysville, Colorado, leaving her residence for a bike ride on Mother’s Day. Her mountain bike was later found that evening near her home, while her helmet was discovered a few days after in a separate nearby location.
A massive search for Suzanne spans over a three-year period until her remains are uncovered in a shallow grave in Saguache just a few hundred feet down a dirt road, the indictment states. An autopsy report states drugs typically used to tranquilize animals were found in her system.
Morphew was all smiles at his court appearance.
