In a significant development, Pennsylvania authorities revealed on Wednesday the arrest of a suspect linked to the unsettling disappearance of a young woman over a week ago. The mysterious case of Kada Scott, a 23-year-old woman who went missing on October 4, has taken a crucial turn with the apprehension of Keon King, age 21, now facing charges of abduction.
Keon King, who is now at the center of the investigation, has a shadowy past. The assistant district attorney has pointed out King’s involvement in a previous kidnapping and strangulation incident earlier this year. Unfortunately, that case was dismissed when the victim failed to appear in court, according to reports from WPVI.
As the case unfolds, it has come to light, through sources speaking to the Philadelphia Inquirer, that King was the last known individual to have had contact with Scott on the night she disappeared. Notably, cell phone data suggests that King was in possession of Scott’s phone during that critical time frame before the device was mysteriously deactivated.
The sequence of events began on October 4, when Scott left her nursing home job early from her overnight shift. Her vehicle was later discovered in the parking lot of the same workplace, adding another layer of intrigue to her sudden disappearance.
Philadelphia Police Captain John Craig has emphasized that Scott did not have a history of going missing, and her coworkers apparently noticed nothing unusual in her behavior before she vanished. However, Craig did note that Scott had confided in her family about receiving harassing phone calls shortly before her disappearance, suggesting possible links to her current predicament.
Philadelphia Police Captain John Craig said Scott does not have a history of disappearing, and her co-workers did not notice anything out of the ordinary before she went missing. However, Craig also claimed that Scott told her family about someone harassing her over the phone shortly before she vanished.
It is unclear whether police believe King was the person who harassed Scott on the phone.
Police also said they are searching for a vehicle Scott may have been in. The car is a 1999 gold Toyota Camry with a Pennsylvania tag reading MSX0797.
This story is developing.
