The final pre-trial hearing has concluded for a Wisconsin man facing charges in the tragic death of his newborn daughter, a crime he allegedly committed at the age of 16.
Logan Kruckenberg Anderson, now 21, is accused of ending the life of his infant daughter, Harper, by abandoning her in the woods in January 2021. The heartbreaking event occurred shortly after the newborn’s mother gave birth at a home in the Village of Albany.
The case came to light when, on January 9, 2021, the maternal grandfather alerted authorities. He reported that his daughter had delivered a baby and that Kruckenberg Anderson had taken the child, with his whereabouts unknown since then.
Upon locating Kruckenberg Anderson, investigators were initially told that he had handed the newborn over to a friend named “Tyler.” However, this story quickly unraveled under scrutiny.
Further interviews revealed that both parents had made the difficult decision that they could not care for Harper, according to reports from WIFR. This led to the devastating actions that followed.
Tragically, Harper’s lifeless body was soon discovered by law enforcement, concealed in snow and bearing gunshot wounds. The grim find prompted the arrest of Kruckenberg Anderson, who is being prosecuted as an adult for this heinous act.
He later confessed to shooting the baby twice in the head. A criminal complaint stated that a juvenile told police that Kruckenberg Anderson gave him a firearm.
The firearm matched bullets found next to Harper’s body, Law&Crime reports.
Kruckenberg Anderson’s trial has been set for October 27. He’s facing charges that include first-degree homicide and hiding the corpse of a child.
Harper’s mother has not been charged.
