An unsettling incident unfolded in Idaho Falls as a 19-year-old woman, Kierstan Leann Morgan, allegedly launched a vicious attack on a teenage girl at a local park. The altercation, which reportedly stemmed from accusations of flirting, has resulted in Morgan facing a felony charge of aggravated battery.

The events took place at Tautphaus Park in May 2025, when Morgan, accompanied by her boyfriend Jiler Hainsworth, then 17, confronted a 16-year-old girl. According to court documents accessed by East Idaho News, Morgan accused the girl of flirting with Hainsworth while she was engaged in a friendly game of basketball with friends.

Eyewitness accounts and video evidence suggest that Morgan, incited by Hainsworth’s claims, aggressively approached the girl. Despite the victim’s attempts to defuse the situation and leave, Morgan allegedly attacked her, delivering punches and eventually forcing her to the ground. The assault escalated as Morgan reportedly seized the girl’s hair and repeatedly banged her head against the ground.

The victim, who reportedly lost consciousness during the attack, required medical attention for multiple injuries including facial swelling, loose teeth, and abrasions. The severity of her condition necessitated treatment at a nearby hospital, highlighting the brutal nature of the assault.

Additionally, the court records indicate that Hainsworth played a role in the incident’s escalation, purportedly warning bystanders against intervening. This violent episode has left the community grappling with its impact and the legal proceedings that have since followed.

The court documents describe the attack as a “brutal beating,” with Hainsworth allegedly telling bystanders he would hurt them if they stepped in, East Idaho News reports.

Hainsworth was identified through the fight footage; when police questioned him about what happened he was wearing the same clothes he allegedly had on in the video. He was reportedly very rude to cops and claimed he didn’t start the fight, per police.

Hainsworth was charged with felony aggravated battery, felony witness intimidation and misdemeanor assault after being arrested in early February.

If convicted, Morgan will face a possible 15-year prison sentence while Hainsworth will face up to 20 years in prison. Hainsworth is due in court on Feb. 27 for a preliminary hearing. Morgan is scheduled to appear in court on March 10 for a pretrial conference. They’re both currently out on bond, according to online court and jail records.
