Teen charged following police chase as suspicious items seized
A teenager is set to face court following an alleged pursuit in Sydney‘s south-west last night where police discovered multiple suspicious items in a vehicle, including a baseball bat, jerry cans and ski masks.
Police were patrolling Greenacre when they found an unregistered Volkswagen Golf with green P-plates but no licence plates parked on Robinson Street about 11.30pm.
As police approached the vehicle, the driver allegedly fled, and officers began a pursuit in an attempt to stop the car.

The pursuit extended through the suburban landscape, eventually concluding on Napoleon Street in Riverwood, where the driver and two passengers attempted to escape on foot.

“One of them just dashed off. He was surprisingly quick and managed to outrun the police,” a witness shared with 9News.

“He didn’t come back for around 10 minutes,” the witness added.

Authorities apprehended the 17-year-old driver along with his companions, aged 21 and 22.

The driver was later taken to Auburn Police Station, while the passengers were taken to Bankstown Police Station.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a baseball bat, several jerry cans, ski masks, and mobile phones.

The seized items are set to undergo forensic analysis.

All the items will undergo forensic testing.

The two older men were released without charge, awaiting further investigations.

The teen was charged with initiating a police pursuit, driving dangerously, disguising their face with the intention to commit an indictable offence, driving a vehicle with a suspended license and using a vehicle without number plates fixed correctly.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before the children’s court on February 4.
