A 15-year-old from Indiana faces murder charges, accused of fatally shooting his father and great-uncle in an incident that occurred in August.

On October 29, the case involving Jeremiah Dill was advanced to adult court, where he stands accused of the murders of Grantham Chandler, 43, and Jeffrey Fauber, 61. Reports from WTHR state that the two men were discovered dead in the driveway of a residence in Quincy on August 9.

As the Indiana State Police prepared to investigate the crime scene, they were informed that Dill had voluntarily surrendered. In conversations with Martinsville police, Dill allegedly admitted, “I killed my family,” and indicated that the firearms used in the shootings were inside a nearby car, which was not located at the crime scene.

Authorities searched the vehicle and reportedly found a handgun along with a loaded AR-15 rifle, which was discovered with its safety off.

According to WTHR, Dill also expressed, “I’m fighting demons,” during his interactions with law enforcement.

Dill is said to have a history of mental health challenges, including a previous incident where he received in-patient treatment following threats to harm his family.

According to WBIW, a witness described Dill as “uncharacteristically helpful” the morning of the murders. The witness also claimed Dill had recently threatened to kill the family.

It was during that recent incident when Dill told police that he planned to kill his father and that he knew where the guns were in the home. Dill was released from psychiatric care on August 7 — two days before the murders.

The Department of Child Services got involved after the threats were made. WBIW reported that his family had been ensuring the guns were locked away, but it is unclear how Dill accessed them on August 9.

Dill’s trial is scheduled to begin on April 14, 2026.
