Three teenagers have been charged after an alleged violent carjacking that ended in a police pursuit through south-west Sydney.

Authorities report that three youths were spotted driving a stolen sedan along Camden Valley Way in Camden around noon yesterday.

According to police, a pursuit ensued when the driver refused to pull over. The chase came to a dramatic halt when the vehicle collided with multiple cars, drove onto the sidewalk, and swerved into oncoming traffic.

The vehicle was eventually found abandoned after crashing into a tree near William Avenue.

Shortly after, at approximately 12:10 p.m., police received another call to Lerida Avenue in Camden. A 26-year-old man reported being confronted by three teenagers who allegedly assaulted him and forcibly removed him from his BMW sedan.

The suspects then allegedly escaped the scene in the stolen BMW.

This triggered another chase through Elderslie towards Camden’s central business district, which concluded shortly thereafter.

Firefighters were called to Onslow Park in Camden about 20 minutes later, where the allegedly stolen BMW had been torched.

The fire spread to nearby grassland and was soon extinguished, however the car was destroyed.

Three teenagers – two 16-year-old boys and a 13-year-old girl – were arrested at the scene.

One of the 16-year-old boys has been charged with two counts of police pursuit without stopping and driving dangerously, robbery, possessing a prohibited drug and four counts of not giving particulars to another driver.

He was also charged with breach of bail and was refused bail to appear in a children’s court today.

The second 16-year-old boy and the 13-year-old girl were both charged with robbery and being carried conveyance taken without consent of the owner.

The pair were also refused bail to appear in a children’s court today.
