ALACHUA, Fla. – Deandre Deshawn Davis, 40, from Arlington, Texas, was taken into custody this morning on I-75 due to active warrants and accusations of grand theft auto and driving without a valid driver’s license.

At approximately 8:54 a.m. on October 1, deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office were alerted that a white Kia sedan, listed as stolen from Arlington, Texas, was heading north on I-75 around the Micanopy area. Deputies positioned themselves at various exits in Alachua County, successfully executing a high-risk traffic stop about a mile south of the Alachua exit (mile marker 398). The detained driver was identified as Davis.

After being read his Miranda rights, Davis allegedly admitted he was aware he was not supposed to drive the car, as he had received an email from the owner indicating her intention to report the vehicle as stolen to the Texas police.

Davis faces charges of grand theft auto and driving without a valid license and was also booked on two outstanding felony warrants from Texas, including charges of burglary and a parole violation.

Davis will appear before a judge on October 2, and his criminal history and bail will be available that afternoon.

Information regarding arrests is drawn from law enforcement agency reports. The charges listed stem from arrest reports and/or court documents and are merely accusations. All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
