Two men and a woman in Ohio are set to serve prison sentences for the horrific abuse of a 6-year-old boy, an incident that culminated in the child being handcuffed and viciously attacked by a dog, resulting in severe physical injuries, authorities reported.

After a four-day trial, a jury in Ashland County found Robert Michalski, Jr. guilty—as the owner of the pit bull involved in the attack and the owner of the residence where it occurred—on multiple charges, which include two counts of complicity to commit endangering children and one count of tampering with evidence, all felony offenses. However, the jury acquitted him of charges including kidnapping, possessing criminal tools, and an additional count of endangering children, according to court records.

The boy’s mother, Angelina Williams, admitted guilt last month to one count of kidnapping and four counts of endangering children. Taylor Marvin-Brown, whom prosecutors identified as Williams’ “paramour,” confessed in April to charges of obstructing justice and three counts of complicity in committing a felony, which include one count of kidnapping and two counts of endangering children.

According to a news release from the Ashland County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the charges against the trio stem from “a disturbing pattern of abuse” that reached an apex on Aug. 17, 2024, at Michalski’s home in Savannah, Ohio.

“Two children — a young boy and his sister — were being periodically restrained using handcuffs and other devices in Michalski’s home,” the release states. “On August 17, 2024, while the boy was restrained, he was attacked by a dog, resulting in serious physical injuries.”

The boy and his sister, who was also a victim of abuse, have recovered and are in the care of a legal custodian who provides “appropriate support and protection,” prosecutors said.

As previously reported by Law&Crime, deputies responded to Michalski’s home after receiving reports of a child being bitten by a pit bull on the neck and ear. Emergency medical personnel examined the child and determined his injuries were serious enough to require an airlift to the hospital.

Williams and Marvin-Brown were at the home when deputies arrived, while Michalski appeared to have fled the scene with the attacking dog. However, he was later located hiding with the dog in an upstairs crawl space with the animal, which was later deemed “vicious” and confiscated.

Following an investigation, authorities said Michalski, Williams, and Marvin-Brown restrained the boy with handcuffs on his hands and feet and sicced the dog on him. Prosecutors said the trio administered “corporal punishment” in a cruel way for “a prolonged period” that created a “substantial risk” of physical harm to the boy and his sister.

Michalski will face a maximum possible sentence of nine years in a state correctional facility when he appears for his sentencing hearing before Judge David Stimpert on July 21, 2025.

Williams will be sentenced on June 30, while Marvin-Brown will learn his fate on July 14. Both face up to 40 years in prison.
