New Allegations Against Actor Timothy Busfield in Court Documents Filed This Week

Actor and director Timothy Busfield finds himself embroiled in serious legal trouble, facing allegations of inappropriate conduct with children. As new claims surface, spanning several years, Busfield has firmly asserted his innocence.

According to CrimeOnline, Busfield is currently charged with child abuse and criminal sexual contact with a minor. The actor is being held without bail at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque, awaiting a decision on his release.

In an effort to secure his freedom, Busfield’s legal team has filed a motion to have him released from custody. Despite their arguments, a judge ruled during Busfield’s initial court appearance on Wednesday that he must remain detained without bond.

A pivotal detention hearing is slated for Tuesday, as reported by the Tri-City Record. This session will determine whether Busfield can be released while awaiting trial.

The allegations involve incidents that reportedly occurred between 2022 and 2024 on the set of “The Cleaning Lady,” involving twin brothers, according to a criminal complaint.

Busfield, in a statement to his defense attorneys, vehemently denied the accusations, insisting, “I did not do anything to those little boys,” as reported by TMZ.

“I’m going to fight it. I’m going to fight it with a great team, and I’m going to be exonerated. I know I am because this is all so wrong and all lies.”

The video happened shortly before Busfield turned himself in to Albuquerque police on January 13.

Meanwhile, Busfield’s civil lawyer, Larry Stein, told TMZ that a “revenge factor” is possible, after the children’s mother allegedly became upset upon learning they wouldn’t return to the show’s final season.

Following the accusations, an allegation involving a 16-year-old girl surfaced, who auditioned for Busfield’s B Street Theatre in Sacramento, “several years ago.”

The filing claimed that Busfield “kissed her, put his hands down her pants and touched her privates,” the documents stated.

“The defendant begged the family to not report to law enforcement if he received therapy” the filing read.

Years before the B Street Theater allegation, U.S. District Judge James Ideman in 1996 ordered Busfield to pay $150,000 to a Minneapolis law firm after determining Busfield claimed the firm lied about a sexual assault.

According to Deseret News, Busfield filed a defamation suit against Messerli & Kramer, alleging that the law firm made up claims that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl.

The amount owed is what the firm reportedly had to pay in defense against Busfield’s claims.

Busfield settled a lawsuit with the victim for an undisclosed amount.
