Officials said on Monday that a Pennsylvania woman and her 1-year-old son, whose bodies were discovered last week, died as a result of homicide.
This past Saturday, Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo, aged 31, and her son Jeydon were discovered dead, found just 150 yards apart in a grassy area located in Ontelaunee Township. They were last seen alive on September 12, which was a day prior to the discovery of her husband, Yunior Cabrera-Colon, 31, who was found shot in the head amidst some brush in Berks County, as reported by WCAU.
On the preceding Thursday, with Peguero-Mancebo and her son still missing, authorities apprehended Jose Luis Rodriguez, aged 61, in connection with Cabrera-Colon’s murder. Rodriguez purportedly confessed to the killing of Cabrera-Colon.
The Daily Local News conveyed that Peguero-Mancebo’s apartment application identified Rodriguez as her spouse. However, apartment personnel noted they had never seen him, while Cabrera-Colon, listed as her brother on the application, was a frequent visitor.
Police investigations concluded that Cabrera-Colon was indeed Peguero-Mancebo’s husband, though Rodriguez was recorded as her spouse on the apartment documents to navigate Cabrera-Colon’s inability to clear a background check.
Reports from the Daily Local News indicated that Cabrera-Colon, Peguero-Mancebo, and Rodriguez were coworkers in a warehouse. Rodriguez had additionally confessed that his wife had threatened him with divorce due to the time he spent with Peguero-Mancebo.
According to Daily Local News, Rodriguez admitted to killing Cabrera-Colon following a confrontation over his interactions with Peguero-Mancebo. He alleged that the dispute escalated and became physical, causing Cabrera-Colon to draw a gun. Rodriguez claimed he managed to disarm Cabrera-Colon before using the firearm against him, shooting him in the back of the head.
Rodriguez allegedly dumped Cabrera-Colon’s body at Baer Park. Though Peguero-Mancebo and her son’s deaths were ruled homicides, authorities have not revealed how or when they died.
Rodriguez is charged with first-degree murder, and abuse of a corpse in Cabrera-Colon’s slaying. However, he has not been charged with the mother’s and son’s homicides. District Attorney John T. Adams said he would update the public on their investigation on September 29.
