Authorities in California are currently probing a tragic incident involving the deaths of two adults and two children, found in a home on Tuesday, in what is believed to be a murder-suicide.
The grim discovery was made in a Rancho Cordova residence, revealing the bodies of a woman, a man, a boy, and a girl, all of whom had suffered gunshot wounds. According to KCRA, Sacramento County police received two calls: the first reported the sound of gunfire, and the second, from an individual claiming responsibility for the shooting and alleging he had set booby traps.
Sgt. Edward Igoe, a spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, stated that drone footage showed an unresponsive man, prompting deputies to enter the home where they found three additional bodies. Igoe mentioned that it remains uncertain whether the man was the caller, as no traps were discovered on the premises.
While the identities of the deceased have not been officially released, the Sacramento Bee reported that the homeowners are listed as David and Lindsey Vallerga, aged 58 and 49, respectively. The couple reportedly had two children, a 13-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter.
Investigators suspect that the incident was a murder-suicide orchestrated by the deceased man. Notably, authorities have confirmed there were no previous reports of domestic violence linked to the residence before this heartbreaking event.
