In a tragic turn of events, the parents and grandmother of a 7-year-old boy have been detained following the discovery of the child’s body inside a freezer at their residence.
Authorities responded to an apartment in Lynwood, California, on Tuesday night after receiving a report concerning a deceased child, according to KABC. Upon arrival, officers conducting a welfare check uncovered the boy’s body in the freezer.
The boy’s mother, Destiny Harrison, aged 25, faces charges of murder. His father, Daniel Monzon, also 25, and grandmother, Ana Zarceno-Caramo, 46, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Investigators have not yet determined how long the boy had been deceased or the cause of death. In addition to the deceased child, three other children, aged 16, 13, and 9 months, were found in the apartment and have since been placed under the care of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department noted there had been no prior emergency calls to the apartment, as reported by KCBS.
Each of the suspects remains in custody with bail set at $2 million. Further details have yet to be disclosed.
