Developing: College Stunt Team Student’s Baby Found Dead, Stashed Bag in Closet

Kentucky police arrested a woman on Sunday, days after they reportedly discovered her deceased baby in a closet.

On Wednesday, Lexington police responded to a report of an unresponsive infant and allegedly discovered the baby in a closet, wrapped in a towel inside a trash bag. According to WLWT, the infant’s mother is Laken Snelling, 21, and the cause of the infant’s death is still being investigated.

Snelling, a Tennessee native, faces charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant. Reports reveal she is currently a senior at the University of Kentucky.

The university stated that Snelling has been part of its STUNT team for the last three seasons. Stunt is a competitive sport featuring tumbling, stunting, and jumping, which operates independently from the school’s cheer teams, although many participants often have cheerleading experience.
