Ohio police confirmed they have someone in custody after a disabled 8-year-old boy was found dead on Saturday.
Hershall Creachbaum, who was autistic and nonverbal, was discovered deceased approximately 12 hours following the alert issued by Dayton police regarding his disappearance. The Dayton Daily News highlighted that he utilized a wheelchair, which was also located during the search conducted on Saturday.
The exact position of Creachbaum’s wheelchair in relation to his body remains unknown. Reports suggested that Creachbaum could walk short distances without relying on his wheelchair.
Although Dayton police have not publicly disclosed the suspect’s identity, Creachbaum’s family and three sources informed WHIO that Michael Kendrick is in custody. The nature of Kendrick’s connection to Creachbaum is not clear.
Miami Valley Jail records stated Kendrick was booked on preliminary charges of murder, felonious assault, child endangerment, tampering with evidence, obstructing justice, and abuse of a corpse.
Creachbaum’s cause of death was not disclosed.
