Authorities have confirmed the tragic discovery of an 8-year-old girl from Arizona, who was reported missing on Thursday, has been found deceased. The announcement was made by Navajo police on Friday.
The law enforcement agency revealed that the search for Maleeka Boone concluded in the Coalmine area, although they withheld further details. Boone was last observed walking around Coalmine, specifically near the Coalmine Navajo Housing area.
Due to Boone’s indigenous background and the location within the Navajo Nation, a Turquoise Alert was issued. The alert has since been rescinded by the FBI, according to Navajo police.
The FBI continues to be actively involved in the investigation into Boone’s disappearance and subsequent death. At this time, the cause of her death remains undisclosed, and it is yet to be determined if foul play is involved.
“We are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the last time Maleeka Boone was seen by her family and community members,” the police stated.
This is an evolving situation, and updates will follow as more information becomes available…
